2016 is supposed to be… The Year of Health Insurance (echo, echo, echo). I have High-Deductible-Minimal-Coverage medical insurance via the Evil Corporation where I work… and I have a paycheck, so my… let’s say “plan” is to take better care of myself: get my teeth cleaned, have my eyes checked, go to the General Practitioner, find a counsellor, etc. In my dreams, I get to see an actual psychiatric person/doctor to have my moods analyzed and I get some proper psych meds for once. It’s a beautiful dream.
Reality is a confidential and free self-assessment on the insurance website.
10 questions about depression.
How often do you feel sad?
How often do you feel restless?
I took the test online and this was the outcome:
Your assessment results indicate that you are suffering from depression. We would like to encourage you to speak with your doctor or schedule an appointment with a behavioral health provider as soon as possible. You may even be at risk for harming yourself or someone else.
If that is the case, please call 911 or go immediately to the nearest hospital emergency room. If you need to speak to someone now, you can also call either:
- the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or
- the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services hotline 1-800-662-HELP (4357)
These resources are free, completely confidential and available 24-hours-a-day, 365 days a year. If you are concerned that you may have a medical emergency or are having thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room.
Well, that made me laugh. I flunked the depression quiz! CALL 911 !!! CALL 911 !!!
HA HA HA HA. I am so not suicidal. That’s like asking a legless man to run a marathon since I am unkillable. I honestly believe that if there were a burning house fire with children trapped inside, I could rush in, save those children, and survive. I could get burned. I could get maimed, but dead? No way. In fact, I haven’t even been indulging in self-destructive behaviors like drinking, drugging or gambling. I’ve just been working and watching television like a good little citizen. (stupid) Admittedly though, I absolutely do feel like there must be more to life than this: working and relaxing after work.
