I finally got my mattress! Yeah! No more sleeping on the air mattress. I am so happy.
Good news, bad news.
I wanted a loft bed, so I bought one at IKEA. I can stand and walk unobstructed underneath it, which makes it 5 feet 5 inches off the ground. I spraypainted the metal frame crayon purple and slid it around my bedroom until I got it in just the right place. It’s awesome. It’s supposed to take a thinner mattress so the guard rails will keep a child from rolling out and dropping 6 feet to the floor, but I chose a pillowtop mattress.
Well, the extra 3 inches of mattress height make my face pretty damn close to the ceiling. I got in the bed and my claustrophobia went off! My eyes started losing depth of focus and I was gonna hyperventilate. Oh no. Seriously, it’s just like sleeping in a coffin. Or a submarine.
I refuse to give in! I am gonna sleep in that bed and overcome my fears. I wanted the softer mattress and now I have to deal with it. Besides, it’ll be good for me to cure the claustrophobia.
My Claustrophobia: fear of being trapped in a box and running out of air.
