For years, researchers have been looking for the elusive alcohol gene, and recent research has shown that, like the blue eye gene, many potential genes linked to alcohol dependency overlap with other traits. For the study, published in the July issue of the American Journal of Medical Genetics: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Arvis Sulovari and Dawei Li, analyzed data on 1,263 white Americans with alcohol dependency problems.
