As I was experiencing a round of grief last night and couldn’t sleep, I turned for comfort to YouTube and my list of movies that make me feel safe. I realized that all of the movies have essentially the same plot and characters.
Protagonist has an evil advisor and has been bred to be a villain.
Despite the influence of the evil advisors, protagonist refuses to serve evil.
Protagonist has true friends who are loyal.
Protagonist has at least one person who believes in them.
Lesson: Brave people do the right thing, despite opposition, despite being young and inexperienced. Be yourself, your true, authentic self, and you will win.
In the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry is raised by evil, abusive people who neglect him and he is then expected to join Slytherin House and become a bad guy… but he doesn’t!
In Princess Charm School, Barbie says “Every girl is a princess.”, therefore, she merits to become an actual princess.
