Because I live in an area called “The Farms”, which means that my neighbors have horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, and bee-hives in their yard, the local grocery store has a step-on farm scale that can weigh up to 1000 pounds. (In case you grew a giant root vegetable, I guess.) The scale reminds me of being a kid and playing in the arcade on Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, USA – where I had so much fun. Therefore, I make a trip to weigh myself once a week on that scale and track my weight loss progress. Even bad news feels like fun when I get to step onto that giant scale.
When I left Israel, I weighed 88 kilos. That’s 194 lbs. My goal is to return to 88 kilos and then re-assess.
I started at 228 pounds on 16 Nov 2014, with a goal to reach 200 pounds by mid-February. (You know the day.) Today the scale says I weight 217 pounds. I lost 11 pounds! Wow!
What have I been doing?
Drink 3 litres of water every day.
Eat raw broccoli dipped in blue cheese dressing.
Eat 3 servings of raw veggies per day.
Sleep until I wake up naturally.
Splurge every Friday night (Shabbat).
If I weren’t so fat, I would have more energy. Then I could add some daily exercise and I would probably drop 30 pounds in a month. Sadly, I feel lethargic and am having trouble with my blood sugar levels, but if I just keep at it, I will shed another 10 pounds in a month and feel all better.
Sorry. I can’t help criticizing myself. Okay, focus on the original point. I lost 11 pounds!
