I don’t like typing up a post lickety-split. It’s too much like Twitter and I already vomited once today. And yet, here is a quick update. I started work! Yeah!
I have been unemployed since I left Israel in late August 2013. I had many successful interviews and landed at least five jobs – which all later evaporated. I am tempted to give the list of whys… but, in the end, Hashem gives jobs. Hashem, God, toMAYto toMAHto.
I had orientation today and watched several hours of cheerful training videos. I hooked a temporary holiday job at a discount clothing store. It turns out that it is actually quite a big company and has opportunity written all over it. I could spin this gig into a career and I am so surprised!
No drug tests. No pre-employment drug test. No random drug tests. I didn’t even have to sign the standard “I promise not to use drugs” non-binding, pretend contract. – This means that if I need to take a Xanax, I can. Awesome. May I never need to take one.
Now my resume can show recent employment.
More people to get recommendations from in the future.
Easing back into the job market at a pace I can handle.
And the super-bestest? I asked for Friday nights off, and they said okay. I get to keep Shabbat (or at least 90% of it). It’s a good start. Immediate negative: Mommy isn’t satisfied. LOL – This is another one of those “You will laugh at this in the future.”
I have big dreams and I feel the forward motion once again.
